NCMA Contest
Berkeley No. 8
Richard Diebenkorn
Made in 1954
I picked this piece, honestly, because it was a modern style and I feel like I could not mess up a modern piece. I was drawn to the careless "slaps of color". I didn't think through this piece a lot; but, rather, I simply did what I thought would work without thinking.
My piece's inspiration is taken from a aerial view of a sand bar in the ocean while his piece's inspiration was aerial view of the southwest plains. I also used a similar technique to him.
